Have you been thinking about relocating to the Comox Valley? If you haven’t, you should! It is a pretty amazing place to live, and the place I have been fortunate enough to call home for the majority of my life. Here are just a few of the reasons that I have chosen to build my life and business here and why I would like to share it with you too!

1) The Ocean

With four marinas around the valley and multiple boat launches, there is easy access to get out on the water for the day. You will also find great fishing within 20 minutes, with plenty of opportunities to see whales, and amazing beaches like Tree Island and Tribune Bay are just a quick ride away.

2) Access to the Outdoors

Can’t decide between swimming in the lake, ocean or river? Don’t worry, you can do it all in one day. Want to go on a hike in the mountains? No problem. No matter what outdoor activity you fancy, you can do it here! We have access to amazing places like Strathcona Park, Paradise Meadows, Seal Bay Park, and so much more.

3) It’s Still a Small Town

Although it has grown over the few decades, Comox still feels like a small town. While you might not recognize the people walking down the street, they are certainly going to give you a smile and hello as you walk by. A common saying in the Comox Valley is that “everything and anything is only a max 20 minute drive away.”

4) Amazing Local Products

The Valley is home to many wineries, breweries, and distilleries, cheese makers, local farms and farm stands, plus an amazing year-round Farmers Market.

5) Festivals and Events

The Filberg Arts Festival, Vancouver Island Music Fest, Comox Nautical Days and the BC Shellfish Festival are just a few of the amazing events that happen throughout the year (when we are not in a pandemic).

6) Mount Washington Alpine Resort

Mount Washington is a short drive of only 40 minutes away for skiing and snowboarding in the winter, mountain biking and hiking in the summer. They also offer a variety of family activities like their brand-new zip line adventure.

7) It’s Still Affordable

If you are looking at transitioning from the city to the island, the home prices in the Comox Valley will allow your money to go much further.

8) Many Communities Rolled Into One

The Town Comox, City of Courtenay, and Village of Cumberland are the three main communities that make up the Comox Valley. Not to mention the the nearby unincorporated rural settlements of Royston, Union Bay, Fanny Bay, Black Creek, and Merville. Each one is a little different, so there is certainly something for everyone here.

9) Central Location

Whether you are wanting to explore the North Island, the Sunshine Coast, the South Island or West Coast, it is all easily accessible. We have an international airport including daily WestJet flights and seaplanes that connect to downtown Vancouver, Calgary, Mexico, and beyond. We are also located within an hour distance to several BC Ferries terminals that access the Sunshine Coast, Gulf Islands, and Vancouver.

10) The Amenities

We have many of the amenities of a much larger city center right here in our small-town including a brand new state-of the-art hospital, an ice rink, plenty of parks, an aquatic center, several rec centers, and big name shops such as Costco, Walmart, Home Depot, and Superstore. We also have a great selection of local retail shops and restaurants, and one stellar farmer’s market.
